A long time between drinks

I haven’t done this in a while. My last post was in the middle of 2021. A lot has happened between now and then. There’s been a pandemic, personal loss and heartbreak, a change in career, new skills learned & a few epiphanies – one being that life is short and I want to make the most of every day doing things that make me happy.

Which sort of brings us up to today – we got the travelling band back together and me and Me Jenny are back on the road.

The past few years have seen me become quite obsessed with researching our family tree. After finally finding the clue to a family mystery, I have called head first into the hole that is Ancestry research. Our tree is bigger than Ben Hur (which is not necessarily a good thing, but I fall down one hole only to find another to fall into… and so it goes).

Which brings me to the original reason for this jaunt – to locate the living & resting places of our long lost family.

Just following Me Jenny’s lines, she hails from the south of England – specifically Penn in Buckinghamshire, Tilshead in Wiltshire Chichester in West Sussex & Beckley in Rye.

These are all really small villages – one main road, one pub and 36 churches… so we’re hoping to find some gravestones and places our ancestors may have been.

First things first – packing the essentials… I thought one pot would be enough, but Me Jenny said “I’d fill two. We’ll be away for 6 weeks!”

She’s a smart woman, Me Jenny!
