Shave and a Haircut – 2 bits!

Well, we did it again. We said we would and we did. We can even post they same pic, ’cause we ordered the same thing! Thank you Hintergasse Cafe.

We didn’t go straight there after breakfast though, we did a lot of walking around first.

Remember how there was 75 hairdressers in Chur? (which worked out to be 533 customers per salon based on a pop of 40,000). Well Raapperswil isn’t fair behind – total here: 38 (with a pop of 28,000, that’s 736 customers per salon)… I’ve done a bit of maths here – if each client went every 6 weeks, that means each salon would have 14 clients per week. You could do 3 clients per day… is that sustainable? Anyway – there are A LOT of hairdressers here.

You’d think there’d be no more doors to photograph, but you’d be wrong…

There’s no traffic in the old town, even though you can drive there if you live there or if you’re delivering something, so there are a lot of bikes.

We came across this arty shop and at first we didn’t know what everything was made of… can you guess? What a great idea!

Patty’s Kunterbunt

  • Now, come on… that pumpkin has seen better days
  • Look at the size of that leaf!
  • Another wall sundial – that looks like a smiley face.
  • The car that I’m going to bring home in my suitcase
  • If you were wondering what Franz Curtis looked like – this is him.
  • Yesterday was at the start of the Swiss Carnivale, so there was a band and confetti.

Our walk took us back down to the lake and around to the part we hadn’t been yet.

Past the sea baths (technically lake baths)

Past some pretty autumn colours

Past this playground where going down that slide (and inevitably down the stairs) is strictly at your own risk…

I like how the building on the right is holding onto the building on the left via that brick wall… very supportive neighbours.

You know what else I’m loving here… they let pooches in everywhere. This little bundle was having dinner last night. He had a basket under the table, but he came out to have a look when the waitress started cutting ham.

We have now officially walked up and down every street in the old section of town. We nearly crossed the road into the new section of modern times once or twice, but we held ourselves back.

Tomorrow… it’s the train back to Zurich to prepare for our flights back to the future.
