Rye has to be one of the quaintest little towns…

with so many lovely, different little shops…

Above that black door above says circa 1475!!!!!
I mean… Simon’s Pie Shop! #cuteas

Purveyors of high class meat! Ashbee & Son… relatives of Kel Knight?

And…. hats! I think we should bring back wearing hats.

We headed east around the coast with the destination of Margate in our sights. We chose the coast road thinking we’d get a glimpse of the ocean along the way.
Most of it looked like this… this is the view from the carpark and a lot of the road.

There were a few spots to see the actual water, so we took advantage of those. There was a sign at the top of the stairs warning people about launching their boats off the rocks…. #furrowedbrow

Today is Me Jenny’s special birthday, so we hit up a seafood restaurant and they kept giving Jen free stuff… Champas, dessert! It pays to tell them it’s your birthday.

We told a few people about our choice to go to Margate and they all responded in the same way…. “Um, is there a special reason that you’re going to Margate?” and so far, I can sort of see why they were curious. It’s not the quaintest of places.

Our Margate stop had been planned into our trip as a little rest stop. Somewhere with a view of the ocean to just sit and regroup. Do some washing and read a book, catch up on the blog and watch a movie, that sort of thing.
And anyway, if you look in the right places, you can find the pretty anywhere…

Look how close in these ships are (there’s heaps of them) and see if you can count the wind turbines… there are thousands!

Our AirBnB is in this building…. Sure, it may look dodgy on the outside, but it’s very pretty on the inside, and that’s what counts.

A very peaceful and pretty day.
Love your wanderings south east of London; looking forward to the next stopover. xx TD
