From one extreme to another – 5℃ to 32℃ (with 1000% humidity). Actually it wasn’t too bad and we were able to check in to our hotel early which was a godsend as Me Jenny didn’t sleep at all on the plane. Me? yep, clocked at least 7/11.5 hours. #professionalsleeper
This was the view from our room, which was lovely.

We have been to Singapore a number of times, so we didn’t feel like we needed to do anything really touristy, so our plan was take it in, people watch and eat some dumplings.
I thought maybe Me Jen would like to visit the Gardens by the Bay again, and asked her as we happened to be walking past a little supermarket that had flowers out the front. She said “No, I’m happy to look at these.” Easy pleased!

This bridge I right outside our hotel and has been standing since 1867. However, according to the sign, they frown upon you taking your horses or cattle over it. Inconvenient.

The one other thing we really wanted to re-do was find the restaurant in Chinatown where we went in 2018 where they served the best chilli crab – but… I had the butter crab and it was the best thing I’ve ever eaten in my whole entire life. Me Jen and I have talked about that crab experience many times since then and have done a lot of searching to find the same restaurant, using location stamps on photos, google street view, etc… and when we got there (we knew it had to be one of two places on Mosque Street)…
The first place we asked if they had butter crab on their menu, the man asked me if I’d seen it in the menu at the front door. When I said no, he said, well, then we don’t have it. I don’t know how many other people he has had to answer the same question for, but he was over it.
We went to the next place and that man had never heard of butter crab.
I was crestfallen.
We still have the original memory to dine on and now… we try a new place.
Me Jenny was very pleased that they served her beer in a pony glass… and she tried the crab with ginger and onion. Not the same, but not bad.

We had a little wander through Chinatown…

Then headed back to the hotel to have a wee nightcap…

This was essentially a whiskey bar, so I sampled a Whiskey Sour and Me Jen tried a Ginger Mule (sans whiskey). Both very nice, but I have a whiskey sour maker at home who makes them better.

Day 2 and we decided to do the river boat ride up the river to Clarke Quay and back.
Looks like not a bad day for it…

These safety instructions seem pretty easy to follow… That’s no dancing the jive on the roof, right?

All the views of Marina Bay… the bottom is Clifford Pier, which occupys the former landing point of Singapore’s forefathers. It is a heritage site steeped in the timeless elegance of bygone eras past (thank for your the words Fullerton Bay Hotel website). Now it’s the foyer of the Fullerton Bay Hotel and a function centre for weddings, etc… they were setting up a reception for Alyssa and Kenneth who just got married… Very lavish. Congrats you two crazy kids.

Then… the black clouds starting to appear, but we were heading away from them, so… no problem, right?

Then the sky opened up and down fell the biggest, heaviest rain drops I’ve ever felt… like someone was throwing water balloons. I don’t think it was the splash effect from the Merlion.

It only lasted about 5-10 mins, and then the cruise was over.
Tonight, our last night, we wanted to see the Marina Bay light show and have a drink somewhere with a view and decided on Lantern at the Fullerton Bay Hotel.
A lovely view and happy hour cocktails. Lychee Martini please.

Then as the sun went it got prettier as the lights came on…

Then Me Jen noticed the full moon!!!

Last time we watched the light show we were sitting on the other side, so we were much closer to the action and I thought I had remembered that it incorporated a lot more of the bay…

So it was a little tricky to see and hear the accompanying music, but it was pretty, nevertheless.

Thanks Lantern. Nice cocktails.

Then it was home to pack for the last time… I can’t quite believe it’s all come to an end.

Dumplings were eaten, a river cruise was had, crab of some sort was found and a light show was seen.
Time to go home.
What a wonderful trip you’ve both had. Lots of fabulous new and familiar experiences, just not the butter crab. See your well travelled selves back home soon 👏👏🤗
See you soon lovely lady!
