Today we’re on our way to Forster-Tuncurry, the twin towns sitting astride glittering Wallis Lake are famous for turquoise waters, uncrowded beaches and the best Sydney rock oysters in Australia. So we drove down The Lakes Way, a windy scenic road in from the Pacific Highway and took the small detour to Seal Rocks for a spot of lunch and a squizz. It was lovely. Not much there except natural beauty. One holiday park, a toilet block and rocks. The type of place you’d go to literally get away from it all.

So, why Forster-Tuncurry I hear you ask? Well, I have known my beautiful friend Kerrie George since we worked together in Geraldton in 1998(ish). She is absolutely one of my most favourite friends in the whole wide world. One of those people who you may not see for years because of the tyranny of distance, but then pick up where you left off as soon as you see each other. So I could not be on the east coast and not catch up.
When I messaged KG that we would be in her hometown the next day, she threw her chair in the car immediately, grabbed an extra set of cutlery, made a salad and was ready to BBQ! Have cutlery – will travel.

As well as KG, I love Forster itself. The beaches, Wallis Lake, the ocean pool, the bridge between here and Tuncurry. It’s all so picturesque and laid back.

Staying at the Reflections Forster Holiday Park and let me tell you the ablution block was amazing! You can pay for the washing machines with your phone and the machine will text you 5 mins before your load is finished so you have time to make your way back there! The toilets, showers and camp kitchen were lovely… you’d come and stay here just for those facilities alone.

We walked along the lake taking in the oyster farms and the clear water…. we ate oysters from Graham Barkley’s Oysters…. we tried the amazing Forster Desserts ice cream… this is the best ice cream display I’ve ever seen! We had lunch and a bevy at the Lakes and Ocean Hotel, and then walked across the bridge and back. With Fliss doing her morning walks along the beach and up the mountains, I think you can say that we saw a lot of the town.

New series: Fabulous Feasts with Felicity – Forster edition
The highlight of Forster was participating in the trivia night at the golf club! Kerrie’s son, Brodie who I haven’t seen since he was a little bebe and now is driving and sporting a well groomed moostache picked us up. We love a bit of trivia, it’s so good to find an outlet for all the useless information sitting in your head. As last minute entrants they seated us in the corner lounge which was very comfy. We came middle of the road, losing it on the last round of ‘name that mineral’ FFS!

And that’s Forster done – for this time… I shall indeed be back. I promised Brodie he could join us for trivia and a bevy when he was 18, which isn’t far away, but then who will drive us?
Breakfast and coffees done. Time to hit the road.

What a fabulous time you are enjoying Shell. So good to read your blog. 💕
What a great little catch up.
I’ll see to tomorrow in Port Mac for another fun filled adventure 🩷🩷
