One of the wants on this leg of the half lap was to visit islands. I’ve only done 2 so far (T.M.A have done a heap more), and I am hopeful of more to come. Today’s adventure was a day trip to Dunk Island. We got the ferry over from Clump Point in Mission Beach to spend the day wandering, exploring & swimming. There had been a bit of damage to Dunk with the last couple of cyclones so there was some roped off areas we couldn’t venture into, but there is a cafe and beautiful walks and beaches.
We snorkelled, looked for beach treasures and we saw a snake!
On our way back through the rainforest walk Larzy was being the hike leader, letting us know what was ahead “big tree root”, “low branch”, “loose rock on the path”, etc…. and in the same calm voice she said “snake”. I was right behind her in the single file line up and I lightly grabbed her shoulders and said “SHIT!!!!!!!”`. Now, I don’t know if I was grabbing her to save her or to use her as a human shield and I guess we’ll never know. Either way, Larzy brought me back to myself by saying “um, you said a bad word”.

As we were dropped off right in front of the caravan cafe, where they were playing live music, we stopped for a 5sy (at 4:30pm) and listened and watched the dancing. It would have been rude not to and what a great way to end the amazing day!

With our time done in South Mission, we were all packed up and ready to head to our next destination…
