My Mum & Dad, Jen & Col had been to Daly Waters many times on their van travels and there was always a photo outside the pub in front of the bougainvillea decorated pub sign. I wanted to have a photo in the same spot to let them know I was in the exact spot that they stood.

The Daly Waters is an iconic outback pub that has been around for decades. It hasn’t quite caught up with new wave feminism with its displays of punter donated bras and signs suggesting topless women will get free drinks…. but they had some excellent live music – a married couple singing country tunes. The lady, who looked and sounded like she could have been Denise Scott’s sister, went to school with John Farnham… you know what that means – that’s only 2 degrees of separation between me and Farnsy!
People also donate, name badges, patches, all sorts of licences – driving, fishing, shooting, whatever…
They offer their world famous beef ‘n’ Barra on the BBQ and a salad buffet. Very tasty. It was a really good vibe and very nice to be able to walk less than 100 metres home to Fern.

Below in the first pic is Tim, he owns just about everything in the NT… Daly Waters, Adelaide River, Coober Pedy… the list goes on. He does a talk every night between when Denise Scott’s sister’s band finishes and the first round of beef n barras is called… he talks about the history of Daly Waters and the WWII historic aerodrome and military cemeteries. He also gives all his other businesses a little plug.
